Unlike many tags on the market that are plated (where the outer finish eventually wears off), this tag is solid brass all the way through.

Brass is a natural metal and will develop a soft patina over time. Exposure to air, moisture, mud, salt water and everyday wear will gradually deepen its tone and change the surface colour. Many customers love this evolving character, it gives each tag its own story.

If you prefer a brighter finish, the tag can easily be polished back to shine.

Caring for Your Brass Tag

To brighten and restore contrast:

  • Gently polish with a soft cloth and a small amount of Brasso
    or

  • Use a natural mix of lemon juice + bicarbonate of soda

  • Buff dry with a clean cloth

Because the tag is solid brass, it can always be refreshed — it will never wear back to a different metal underneath.

If adding custom artwork:

  • Keep designs simple

  • Bold lines work best

  • No backgrounds or colour (engraving shows as natural recessed brass)

  • Very intricate details may not translate clearly at 30mm
